ABOUT AYH RANCH
The AYH Ranch provides a unique Western-Themed Camping experience on Vashon Island, WA.
THE AYH RANCH STORY
We have owned the ranch since 1971 and Judy created the hostel in 1982. The AYH Ranch may no longer be an American Youth Hostel, but the name stuck around, and we do continue to provide an original, western-themed camping experience here on Vashon Island. Something we hope to do for years to come, yet.
THE BIG RED BARN
We built the Big Red Barn in 1994 Inside the barn you can see some beautiful artwork created by the talented William Forrester who stayed with us for a season and created both murals you see on the first and second floors. Inside the barn we bolstered our ranch amenities with a pool table, full kitchen, bathroom & showers, open meeting area and event space. It is quite an experience and something that sets us apart from other campgrounds.
THE LODGE
The lodge was built off the property trees 1986 and was used for 40 years during our hostel days. We built this beautiful log cabin over one long summer of '86. It is a real treat for those who have both small and large parties and comes with its own series of living spaces, 3 bedrooms, 3 private baths, and a full size kitchen and dining area. You will find lots of interesting history and artefact from AYH Ranch hung across its walls and is another unique way to spend time on Vashon Island.
